Professional Esthetician Course and Activities Description 

600 Hour- Professional Esthetician Training Program

The program combines theory and 220 practicums to prepare students to confidently practice in a professional role in the field of esthetics.  To allow for personalized instruction, classes typically will not exceed 10 students. A student must complete the required studies as well as pass written and practical examinations before graduating.

Professional Esthetician Curriculum

Theory & Methodology

An understanding of the history of the field, an overview of human anatomy and physiology, and a solid grasp of theory and methodology of aesthetics are necessary requirements for this class. An outline of the curriculum is as follows:

  • Orientation and Business Topics
        School policies, Management, sales inventory and
        retailing, insurance, client records and confidentiality,
        professional ethics and practices
  • Laws and Regulations
  • General Sciences
        Bacteriology, Microorganisms, Infection control,
        disinfection and sterilization, OSHA requirements,
        MSDS, Cosmetic Chemistry, Products and Ingredients
        and Nutrition
  • Applied Sciences
        Anatomy and Physiology, Skin Structure and Function,
        Skin Types, Skin Conditions and Diseases and Disorders
        of the Skin
  • Skin Care
        Health Screening, Skin Analysis and Consultation,
        Facial Manipulations, Cleansing Procedures, Masks,
        Extraction Techniques, Machine Equipment and
        Electricity, Manual Facials and Treatments,
        Machine, Electrical Facials and Treatments and
        General Procedures and Safety Measures
  • Make-up
  • Spa Body Treatments
  • Hair Removal

 

Professional Esthetics Practical Application
This course covers the full spectrum of basic techniques required for use by the professional esthetician. The student will be introduced to a variety of product lines and learn the proper use of equipment.  The following minimum number of practicums must be completed:
 
  •  Consultation, Cleansing and Analysis         35
  •  Manual Facials and Treatments                   65
  •  Machine or Electrical Facials                       50
  •  Body Treatments and Back Treatments     20
  •  Make-up Application                                     25
  •  Hair Removal                                                 25
